NHS Digital is developing a new system to give patients greater control over how their confidential patient information is used. The National Data Opt-out allows patients and the public to make an informed choice about whether their confidential patient information can be used only for their individual care and treatment, or also for research and planning purposes.

If you do not want your confidential patient information to be used for research and planning, you can set your National Data Opt-out choice online.
