Advocacy Support for Patients

Posted on April 13th, 2026

We want all our patients to feel heard, understood, and involved in decisions about their care.

If you find it difficult to express your views, understand information, or make decisions about your health, you have the right to access independent advocacy support. An advocate is someone who can help you:

  • Understand your options
  • Communicate your wishes
  • Make informed decisions
  • Speak up about your care

Advocacy services are free, confidential, and independent from the NHS and our practice.

Some patients may be entitled to specialist advocacy under the Mental Capacity Act 2005 or the Care Act 2014, particularly if they need support making important decisions and do not have someone appropriate to help them.

If you would like support from an advocate, please speak to a member of our team. We can provide information or help you contact a local advocacy service.
